29thMarch 2017, Raipur: Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA), an apex wind sector body to harness wind energy, has expressed its willingness to extend a helping hand to Chhattisgarh Government for the investor-friendly Renewable Energy policy with thrust on wind energy.
This policy will go a long way in further harnessing Renewable Energy in a big way in addition to the already launched green initiatives of Chhattisgarh Government. The State has been very active with their green initiatives.As per National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) Chhattisgarh has a potential of 77 MW.Chhattisgarh is planning to add 2640 MW of additional renewable energy capacity by financial year 2018-19and Wind Energy will be part of it.
Addressing media persons here today at Raipur, Mr.O.P. Taneja, Associate Director, IWTMA said,the Association is willing to extend all co-operation in making Chhattisgarhto become a Renewable power intensive Stateto ensure energy mix to achieve the National target of 60,000 MW goal”.
“In India, Wind Energy generation is a mature industry and is growing at a remarkable pace. India ranks 4thglobally and as on date about 30,000 MW is operational. Chhattisgarh state has formulated a good policy and have identified the potential areas in Bilaspur, Jashpur and Kabirdham districts. NIWE & CREDA have also installed a wind monitoring station in Bilaspur District.The investors in Chhattisgarh can definitely reap the benefits and can contribute in achieving the 60 GW of Wind Power in the country by 2022”.
IWTMA has partnered with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) to organize a mega three-day exhibition and two-day international conference –“WINDERGY INDIA 2017 from April 25 to April 27 at Hotel Ashok in New Delhi, where leaders from across the globe would deliberate and discuss the way forward and come out with solutions with a concern for environment and combat global warming and climate change.
Windergy India 2017 is a mega event by the industry and for the industry and the main theme of the event is “Wind Destination: India” and “Wind Power Forever”. The investors and enthusiast of Chhattisgarh must attend the event and can register themselves at www.windergy.inThe wind power is being installed in the country under three different modes—Sale to DISCOM under Feed-in-Tariff mode; Captive use; and Third party sale under Independent Power Prodeucer (IPP) mode. The Central Government is promoting all three modes of installation.
Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA) is 18 years old organization which was founded by a group of members from the wind industry. IWTMA was established to aggressively campaign for a Green Revolution to encompass the economy, business, and rural employment, and to contribute towards energy self-reliance for the country. The Association has been an important stakeholder in the development and growth of the wind power industry.
The IWTMA plays a vital role in policy making and regulatory intervention, both at the Central level as well as at the State level, and works with the concerned ministries and departments in tandem with Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE)
IWTMA has 12 members from the manufacturing or OEM community, who represent 90-95% of the Indian market. It has a well-defined Task Force in all the wind states.
It is headed by Dr. DV Giri, who is the Secretary General, Sarvesh Kumar, Chairman and Chintan Shah, who is the Vice-Chairman of the organization.
